Our New and Improved Dining Set!

by Jessica

Grant and I said we weren’t a huge fan of the chairs, but they are chairs. The chairs natural coloring goes well with the green on the glass, but “we” as in I decided that a different color was needed. I bought framed art from Ikea as well, and so we decided to match that.

We took the chairs off the bases, which was funny because yesterday we took the time to tighten them all.

I used the above spray paint, and lots of it, natural fibers or wicker stuff sucks that stuff up.

This is a picture from our third floor porch, that Grant took.

Me still spray painting, I started getting wrist fatigue.

Still painting, it definitely took a few hours, and am sooo glad that is done with.

We put the bases and chairs together. Even though they felt dry, they need to sit for at least 24 hours.

Here is my art by the table with the natural chairs.

Here is the finished product, and tomorrow sometime we will actually be able to sit in them. ;p

Cute Jess! Hey, have you discovered spray paint ‘guns’? They’re an awesome attachment from Lowe’s or Home Depot that makes diy painting a lot less painful 🙂

Looks great.

One comment about the website, the black background with gray text in this reply box is very difficult on the eyes with the white page background… Just feedback on the new look.

Yeah I saw that, and I haven’t really cared to change it. But gosh I’ve changed it now.

Just stumbled on your blog. We have the same chairs as these except in as darker colour and I’d like to paint them as light colour. I’m a big of krylon so I’m wondering how your paint job held up under daily wear and tear over the years.
Thanks

Shelly,
I would say it held up pretty well. The paint itself never really chipped, it was more the weave in our chairs started to move around a tad bit since I wrote this post. We ended up gifting these chairs to a family in need, but that was at the end of last year. I probably would have given them another spray if we had kept them to hide any of the natural color peeking through. However, that was from the movement of the weave not the paint itself. I am so glad that I had painted it when I did since I loved how it looked. Good Luck!
