Phone Pad for your Nightstand

Phone Pad for your Nightstand

If you are a blogger or get a lot of emails and texts, it can be somewhat annoying when you are trying to sleep. Even if you put your phone on silent it might still vibrate; I sometimes drive my husband crazy with this. I finally decided enough was enough. Some people don’t keep their cell phones in their bedrooms, but for those who use them as alarms like we do this is our only option. Here is my tutorial on how to make this pad.

DIY French Tip Gel/Shellac Nails

DIY French Tip Gel/Shellac Nails

I have always been a sucker for the french tipped nail look. There are many ways that you can get this look with gel nails. I know that Sensationail sells their own kit that has white tips that get stuck on, and I have seen people do it successfully.   I however tried it and couldn’t get one single nail to work. So, below is how I do this look, it takes a little longer, but for me it is totally worth it.

Cardigan Tutorial/Fail

Cardigan Tutorial/Fail

So here is a tutorial that I worked on that ended up totally failing. This is one of those great examples of when you keep messing with something you sometimes do too much damage than the beginning. I wanted another cartigan and finally found some striped fabric that I liked the look of at Hobby Lobby. Below you can see how it almost turned out great, but in the end it failed.

DIY Baby Shower Gift Tutorials

DIY Baby Shower Gift Tutorials

As you can probably see from my recent posts, I have been trying to accumulate an arsenal of baby shower gifts. :) I have been trying to make them in bulk that when a shower comes up, I can just pick out which colors and am good to go. I used to make the burp cloths only, but I felt 3 burp cloths just weren’t enough for one gift. I still have one type of gift I want to try and make for the gifts so I have 3 items per boy or girl gift, but I need to see whether it is worth the work that goes into it.

Diagonal Color Block Shirts

Diagonal Color Block Shirts

Oh Pinterest, you give so many ideas, but often I never do anything with them! I love trying new recipes, crafts, sewing ideas, etc. Of course, it is easy on pinterest to pin things and never make them. I recently have been seeing a trend with color blocking where for instance you have a top half of a dress a bright blue and the bottom a black or something along those lines. I have seen it done tastefully a few times, but most of the time if just looks weird or makes the person look top heavy or bottom heavy. I also have a problem with the fact that I tend to lean toward wearing solids. I love patterns and different colors, but since I am always looking for cheap clothes, nice patterns don’t fall in that budget often. For the first 4 years of marriage Grant and I didn’t buy clothes or have a clothing budget. Why you might ask; well one, we were poor and didn’t have any extra money, and if we did it went to paying off our student loans since we wanted to be debt free as soon as possible. Two, honestly we didn’t need clothes. our clothes only started getting holes or falling apart after around 4 years of continuous wear. If we really needed something like undies or socks, we would find a way to buy those things, but always by lowering another budget by that amount. Obviously it wasn’t always fun to not have new clothes, but it was a great way to see how blessed we still were. Now that we have a clothing budget we still try to not be crazy about buying things we don’t need. Anyway, below is my tutorial for diagonal color block shirts that I found inspiration for on pinterest!
