by jrwarfield February 26, 2011

Brötchen or Semmel are a german roll almost the consistency of french bread with a crispy hard outside and a soft fluffy inside. As I grew up, we got them as a treat every once in a while, and they com in a variety of types. But below is just the most basic version of this recipe.

Having Family Over

by jrwarfield February 12, 2011

Now that Grant and I had the new table to actually allow 6+ people to eat here, we( as in I) jumped on the chance to host. Simon was in town after spending some time working in Dimebox before his semester started;so we invited Tanya, Wilson, and the girls to come over too. I made five cheese alforno, garlic bread, while Tanya brought the salad, and we used Kira’s awesome poppy seed dressing. Oh, yeah,  I made Roki’s chocolated chip pound cake. Everything tasted great, and I had done as many things as possible in advanced so that when I got home from work it was a very smooth and clean process.

Our New Years!

by jrwarfield January 15, 2011

For our New Years, we were invited to hang out with Tanya, Wilson, the girls, The Crofts, and the Amaros. by jrwarfield January 14, 2011

It is funny what happens with recipes, it might never have been yours, but once you start making it people start associating it with you. I have this cookie recipe that was my 6th grade teachers that my older sister got from her. I made it a lot when I was younger, and everyone says it is mine now. I never really cared about whose recipe it was; if I wanted to eat it at a family gathering, and no one else was making it then I would make it.

Our Second and unexpected Christmas!

by jrwarfield January 13, 2011

Here are some of the Christmas decorations that I made/got this year! Grant and I went to Ohio for Christmas this year, and were planning on spending my one day off in Austin just hanging out.  This would have been our first time as a couple spending a holiday without family. But alas, life doesn’t happen as you always plan it.

Our New and Improved Dining Set!

by jrwarfield January 5, 2011

Grant and I said we weren’t a huge fan of the chairs, but they are chairs. The chairs natural coloring goes well with the green on the glass, but “we” as in I decided that a different color was needed. I bought framed art from Ikea as well, and so we decided to match that.
