Gail’s Gouda Stir Fry

by jrwarfield

As I have mentioned before, whenever Gail comes for a visit we always share recipes. Some she makes for us, and some we make for her. It is so nice to switch things up and eat something new, or make something I haven’t made in a while. Here is one of the dishes she made for us that was a huge hit. I make it at least once a month for us, and we all really like it. *The AMYLU brand sausages we use in this dish are the best ones for it. They don’t know us nor is this post sponsored in any way.*

We made 3 cups of brown rice for this recipe.

It takes a little bit longer to cook than other types so start it early.

This sausage is the key ingredient, and Gail found it at BJ’s Wholesale. You can also buy it online on their website HERE. I would think other stores sell it too so just look it up. This recipes isn’t as good with another type of sausage.

Start out with a smaller amount, you can always add more Hoisin or soy sauce later for added flavor.

Serve over brown rice and enjoy. This dish tastes very good as left overs as well.

Gail’s Gouda Stir Fry

Ingredients:
3 Cups of cooked brown rice
1 Onion thinly sliced
1-2 Tablespoons of olive oil or fat of choice
2-3 Bell peppers thinly sliced(yellow, orange, or red)
2-3 Zucchinis sliced
4 Amulu’s gouda and apple chicken sausages sliced (These make the dish!)
2 Teaspoons of soy sauce(Gail used lowered sodium)
1-3 Tablespoons of Hoisin Sauce (Start with one and work your way up depending on the taste you prefer)

Directions:
I prefer to prep all of my ingredients so that it is a very simple dish to prepare where I literally just put in ingredient after ingredient. Start off cooking the brown rice since this can take a while. In a saucepan add oil, onions, and bell peppers, and cook until the onions turn silvery and the bell peppers are soft. Add the soy sauce and Hoisin sauce. Then add the zucchinis and cook until they are soft. Gail mentioned that you can leave the sausages whole, and then the cheese won’t leak out of the sausages into the dish, but I prefer it mixed into everything since it is more distributed that way. Then add the chopped sausage pieces and mix until heated through. Taste the sauce to make sure it is strong enough for you,and not too salty from the soy sauce. Serve over brown rice and enjoy!

Thanks Gail for sharing this wonderful recipe with us!
