This year Tanya & Wilson, Daniel & Sarina, and Grant & I all bought DSLR cameras without knowing the other ones were getting some! So this isn’t any type of competition, but I know Grant and I are totally stoked about the fact that we will keep having more and more amazing pictures of family and friends! The Robertsons and the Grashams both have Sony Cameras, and the Warfields got a Nikon! All of the cameras have different pros and cons as it is with all cameras, but Grant and I have been trying to play with as many features as possible since we are total noobs, but we will learn eventually!
Our Baby in all its glory… the Nikon 3100.
Here are some of the pictures we have taken with it!
I was very happy with this picture! I love the rays of light on the background lights.
How Grant and I will look for the next couple of months… always behind our camera whenever something fun happens.
I made truffles this year for Christmas as some of my gifts, and I experimented with a few different filling flavors too! I made white chocolate mint, pumpkin, and the usual hazelnut coffee truffles.
Grant and I decided to make a light box so that we could try and take some different and better pictures. This doesn’t show it fully together, but you get the idea. There is a brown cardboard box with poster board laid inside of it. Then we cut three rectangles out of the box, and covered two with parchment paper. This was the only diffusing thing we had a home, but lots of people use fabrics. Then the last hole is left open so that you can take pictures through there. We left the top open, but some people don’t. You then have two bright white lights shining on either side of the parchment paper sides to brighten it up. We normally attach it to two of our dining chairs, but this is this was just to give you an idea. The pictures below show things in the light box!
The same truffles as above.
A grapefruit… that I already ate.
I am wanting to start taking pictures of the food that I make, and here is one of the first dishes other than the truffles of course… Chicken Pesto Pasta an adaptation of Tanya’s recipe.

VERY cool camera. I’ve been wanting to buy a niec camera, but haven’t had the time to do the research. How much is a decent one?
And, yes, I’m going to be the nerd who comments on all of your blog posts now. I think I tried to comment on Tanya’s and Sarina’s before, but wasn’t able to for some reason. I just figured out that I can on yours, so LUCKY YOU! 🙂
get the nikon d7000! what are you waiting for?!?! Go get it! That is the camera that I wanted but we couldn’t afford.
I know to post on blogger accounts which Sarina and Tanya have, you have to sign in through gmail in order for it to work. They both have it set that way. Our blog is loose, we will take anyone ;p
my blog is set so that anyone can leave a comment…not sure why it hasn’t worked for Kira…
