Pregnancy Post – 13 Weeks

by jrwarfield

So every Monday is when I hit my new week.  So, today I start week 14,but I can’t really do an update for the week without knowing what happened so here is the update from last week which was week 13.

See Week 12 Update Here:

How far along: 13 weeks

How big is baby: Almost an ounce and the size of a peach.

Weight gain: None yet.

Sleep: Still sleeping on my stomach, and still needing one trip to the bathroom each night. I am also drinking a ton more water so I know that this is part of the reason that I need to go more often.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: I can now eat fruit which is nice. I am loving grapefruit which has always been a favorite so that isn’t a surprise as well as honeycrisp apples, clementines, and kiwis. This Oatmeal has sounded good a few of the mornings because it is steadily getting colder here. Fajitas still sound amazing for every meal as does most meat or eggs. I have been eating more BLTs than ever before cause they just sound so good with extra bacon and lots of spinach leaves.

Movement: None that I can feel. Sometimes I think I felt something and realize it was gas. 🙂

What I’m loving: Finally getting to tell people, but honestly I feel like I am still wrapping my head around this. I have to constantly remind myself that I am pregnant.

Symptoms: Just sleepy at 9pm like clock work, and the last time we went for a long 3+ mile walk I could tell after the walk in my hips which was strange cause I have never noticed anything like that before. I get dizzy if I stand up too fast which has happened since the very beginning especially during church because we stand up, and then we start singing right away so I just hold on the Grant and all is well. I still need to eat early in the morning but not right away anymore which is much nicer. I have already purchased a new bra since I’m outgrowing my current ones, but I know I will need to buy more later. I will say if you are in the market for a nursing bra H&M has very comfortable ones that are very well priced. I don’t know how well they hold up in the long run,but worth a shot.

What I’m looking forward to: Our Gender Ultrasound later this month. Thanksgiving with family as well as Christmas in Ohio which I’m hoping will be a white one!

Thoughts: I just started reading the book Baby Bargains after a lot of my Austin Friends recommended it; so far, it has some interesting things to say. I did want to mention that at our first ultrasound at 7weeks 4days the baby’s heartbeat was 154bpm, and the second appointment at 11weeks 4days was 170bpm. So they were right on target for each visit. They told me that at the second appointment they want the heartbeat to be at least 167. So I wanted to mention that here since this is one of those things I might forget later on. I also found out that my blood type is different than I always thought it was. I have a negative blood type which means unless Grant has a negative one, I will need to get a rhogam shot at 28 weeks. Not super excited about this, but also not a huge deal. Grant doesn’t know his blood type, so at our next appointment the gyno office said they can draw it for us just so we are sure. So for once, I won’t be the only one being poked and prodded.

Let me know if you have any questions!
