Pregnancy Post – 38 Weeks

by jrwarfield

I am now 39 weeks, so here is my 38 week update.

Check out the week 37 update Here:

37 weeks
38 weeksHow far along:
 38
 weeks

How big is baby:  Six pounds, twelve ounces and the size of a spaghetti squash.

Weight gain:  27 Pounds

Sleep: I still get between 6-8 hours a sleep a night, but I can tell that I do have to get up more than once to pee now which means the sleep isn’t as deep, but that is fine. I’m just glad I don’t have the pregnancy insomnia that some women get.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Still loving grapefruit, and I have been all about breakfast sandwiches with pepper jack cheese, bacon, and eggs… so yummy. Oh, and peanut butter cups are also a weakness that is hard to avoid.

Movement: She moves a ton. I have gotten a few on video, but since it shows my stomach without a shirt on I will spare you, but rest assured she is active.

What I’m loving: The house projects are as completed as they will get, all of my work things are now wrapped up, and just slowly working on cleaning and extra items on the list that I never thought I would get to.

Symptoms: I have noticed a few contractions here and there, but nothing too crazy, I randomly have had some heart burn or acid reflux which hasn’t been fun,but I have only had it one evening so I don’t know if something I ate is why I have been having it.

What I’m looking forward to: Feeling so much more relaxed about whenever she does decide to make her appearance. I feel like we have prepared as much as we possibly can, are informed as much as possible about the whole birth process, and can’t wait to meet her.

Thoughts:  I just had my appointment, and the gyno said I was 1 cm dilated, and had a very soft cervix so that is cool. She says she loves my blood pressure, and that I’m still measuring 38 weeks which is great, and baby is still head down. She also said she is nice and low. I haven’t been able to tell if she had dropped because I haven’t really had a hard time breathing, and it becoming easier to breathe is one of the ways to tell if your baby has dropped. Lately, I have been feeling a little bit more pressure down there, so I’m glad the gyno confirmed it.  She also said that she thinks I will be one of her Kate Middleton pregnancies. I had no clue what she meant at first, and then she said, “You know, you have had such a great pregnancy with so few complaints. You will come have the baby, make it look easy, and leave the hospital smiling and waving.” I laughed really hard, and told her that, that scenario would be awesome, but that I’m mentally prepared for a very long labor if mine is anything like what my mom typically had. So, we will see. 🙂
