Burp Cloth Update

by jrwarfield March 5, 2013

A while back, I made a ton of burp cloths for the various baby showers that I attended. The tutorial can be found here. I finally have run out, so, it was time to replenish my stock. I learned a few things to make the whole process go faster. It is sad that it took me so long, but sometimes I like repetitious work over the problems solving work. Below you can see what differences that I figured out to speed out the process.

Life Lately

by jrwarfield March 4, 2013

Lately life has been a little crazy, we have spent a few weekends in Nashville to see Kira and Andrew and to make a Craigslist purchase which I will blog about next. We are still visiting Churches which can get a little bit old after a while so I hope we decide on a place soon so we can try and start integrating as much as possible. We finally got all of our insurance stuff switched over. We loved our agent in Austin, TX since we knew Brent personally. He was kinda enough to call and talk to a few agents here in Huntsville and tell us which to avoid. We ended up choosing one that we are very happy with and are getting more coverage than in Austin for cheaper than we were paying there so we can’t  complain. So finally everything is up to date since our move which is very exciting!

No Carb Keto Cream of Wheat

by jrwarfield February 27, 2013

So during our Keto diet, we have been eating mainly bacon and eggs, pancakes, or these Jalapeno Egg Muffins for breakfast. While these are all very tasty, I am a sucker for either oatmeal, malt-o-meal, or cream of wheat type of breakfasts. Only problem is they are all carb loaded so I haven’t even tried anything similar. Then I read on another blog about this Grain Free Hot Cereal and decided to give it a try because more fiber is always great and no carbs!

So Grant and I have been wanting some lasagna, so after his request, I decided to try Zucchini Lasagna. I have never made it before, so I read up on how to make it. I have a great lasagna recipe that I wanted to follow, but wanted to make sure I correctly do the zucchini portion.

Keto Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing

by jrwarfield February 22, 2013

So, I feel like all of the recipes that I am posting are sweets. We do eat a lot of veggies I promise! Most of those recipes we eat, I have already posted like the baked squash that has been a favorite of late. Also, for lunches, I have found that taking frozen veggies like broccoli or green beans placed in a tupperware with a little bit of seasoning are great for lunches. Just microwave for a 2-3 minutes, and you have perfectly steamed veggies. Since I work from home it is easy to ignore my lunches or crave things I shouldn’t, so I have found the most effective way to eat well is to pack myself a lunch at the same time that I pack Grant’s. That way, I almost always eat what I have packed since it is easier to do that than prepare something else.

My Imperfect DIY Weekend Quilt

by jrwarfield February 21, 2013

For a while now, I have been eyeing this certain quilt. I am not a huge quilt person mainly because I am not always a fan of the patterns, or especially colors used on them. This is not to degrade the quilts that others make because an incredible amount of time, effort, and design go into those blankets. I grew up with my great grandma, grandma, and mom making an amazing amount of quilts among other crafty things from sewing, mending, crocheting,  knitting, etc. I made my first mini quilt which was for my fifth grade class. I was sick one day and missed the instructions, and the paper that I was given failed to mention that it needed to be made from construction paper. So, I thought I had to sew a real quilt. I think it had to be 2′ by 2′ so pretty small. Anyway, within a few days and my mom’s verbal instructions, I made this small quilt. I then felt like an idiot when everyone else had a paper one,but now my nieces in Austin use it for their baby dolls so I guess not a total fail after all.
