I am now 38 weeks, so here is my 37 week update.
How big is baby: Six and a half pounds and the size of a bunch of swiss chard.
Weight gain: 25 Pounds
Sleep: I have noticed that I can’t sleep as late as I used to. Normally around 6:30 or 6:40 baby is up and kicking so much that it normally wakes me up. During the work week it isn’t a big deal because we get up before then anyway, but it is kind of a bummer on the weekends. But other than turning over being harder, I can still sleep really well which is wonderful.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: I still love spicy food, any Mexican food, peanut butter cups, grapefruit, and random snack food combinations. I bought a watermelon this week since Sprouts had them on sale, and I felt very cliche buying a watermelon while pregnant, but it was such a yummy one!
Movement: She moves a ton! She loves to stick her little limbs out at the most random times, and likes to kick my ribs pretty hard to where it does startle me sometimes. She mainly does the hard kicking when I’m positioned in a way that is compressing her space, so I don’t blame her.
What I’m loving: It is crazy to think how close we are getting to meeting her!! Most of our projects are at an end, and I just working on last minute sewing projects, washing and folding clothes, etc. It is slowly starting to feel more real.
Symptoms: I had my first real contraction this last week, but that is the only “labor” sign that I have had. These last few weeks I have had no swelling so I think I have been doing a better job of staying active, drinking water, and having very little stress. At this last appointment, her heartbeat was great and I was measuring 38 weeks which was right on target with what I think my due date is. (May 15th rather than the 18th which is the gyno’s date.)
What I’m looking forward to: I’m looking forward to getting to hold her, meet her, and see what she looks like. Also, there is so much up in the air schedule wise since we don’t know when she will come. So once we know, a lot of things can be decided which will be nice.
Thoughts: I think it is funny how people keep asking us if we are ready. We are as ready as I think we can ever be, but I have always been told one can never be ready for a baby; so I guess we aren’t ready. ;p
Let me know if you have any questions!
