At the beginning of this month, we had to say goodbye to Opa and Oma which is always sad!

We are slowly finding our balance as a family of 4.

Sebastian is a great sleeper at night, he goes to sleep around 6pm, and wakes up around 5:30am or 6:00am depending on the morning. During his growth spurt this month, he would wake up once at night to nurse and go back to sleep, but luckily that only lasted one week. He takes 3-4 naps a day still, but they all tend to be shorter. Around 40-45 minutes a piece. This does make everything a lot harder for me since Reese gave me solid hours or one and a half hour naps at this point, but I am not complaining.

DSC_8741

As you can see, almost all of Sebastian’s dark hair fell out, and now his hair color is much lighter.

Nursing is going great, we had to get over those few issues in the first month or two, and now it is wonderful. I feel so blessed to have such a great support system that helped me while the two of us were figuring it out. As you can see below, Sebastian likes to eat. He is very distracted while eating these days so I try to nurse him in a room where Reese isn’t. That doesn’t work most of the time since Reese wants to be where we are,but we deal.

He will smile at anyone and is super happy. Here you can see life with kids… sigh.. Reese. :p

Sebastian seems very big to us with his rolls since he fills his clothes. Reese was always a skinny stick for her height. However, he is only in the 46% for weight so he isn’t really that big. He isn’t a huge fan of baths, but doesn’t dislike them either. He just kinda puts up with them.

Bedtime is always a little crazy around here. Both kids are tired and cranky, but we normally manage to read a book or two. Sometimes Sebastian is too tired and goes to bed before Reese or at the same time. It just depends on how his naps were that day.

We try to be really good about our kids getting to bed early because they do not sleep in,but we do go to our Church’s small group which tends to keep them up longer. Since it is only a few times a month we go for our sanity, and to keep our kids flexible. Here is Sebastian already asleep at small group.

Right now Sebastian sits in a booster seat or bumbo when we eat dinner so he can see. We are on the hunt for a second used Stokke highchair for him.

Sebastian was still sleeping completely swaddled, so we started to try and transition him away from it since Reese already had both arms out at this age.

Sebastian is wearing 6 month clothes, and 6 month footed outfits are getting very tight in length.

Sebastian refuses his pacifier now. He goes to sleep with nothing, and hasn’t found his thumb either which makes Grant super happy. Well, he has found his thumb, but only gnaws on it.

Sebastian is very vocal. Here is he trying to get Reese’s attention.

We still cloth diaper both kids. It gets a little crazy sometimes as we had our washer break twice this month, but I am so glad that we are able.

Here is Sebastian’s birth mark on his back.

IMG_0468

Sebastian loves to see what is going on, and sitting up more than laying down since he isn’t rolling by himself from back to stomach. He is really really close, but mainly does it by accident right now.

IMG_0528

When Grant is home, everyone is happier. Since both of our kiddos are so close in age, it means there is a lot of waiting on me to do things for one or the other depending on urgency before getting to the needs of the other.

IMG_0538

Sebastian got this adorable stuffed Mickey Mouse from his Aunt Raya and Uncle Jonathan from Disney Paris. Reese got a sheep from Stonehenge when she was younger.

IMG_0541

We do lots of tummy time and changing locations in our house when we aren’t running errands or at playdates to keep the boredom down.

Occasionally, Reese plays very sweetly with Sebastian like she is doing here. As you can see he is loving it as well.

Here is Sebastian at Physical Therapy for his mild case of Torticollis.

We are down to once every other week rather than once a week at physical therapy. I take pictures of a lot of the exercises I need to do with him so I don’t forget. He is doing great, and as she says we are just finding lots of little nit picky things at this point since his strength is getting really good.

IMG_0599

Poor Sebastian has to put up with all of Reese’s games and whims… I don’t see this pattern changing as they get older though.

IMG_0628

Sebastian’s First day of Sunday School!

IMG_0632

We waited longer to put Reese in Sunday school because she napped during this time. He tends to nap before we leave for church so it has been working out. Reese had a harder time with Sunday school because she was already shy and didn’t want to stay. So far, Sebastian is happy as a clam in Sunday school and is normally all smiles.

IMG_0649

Reese is obsessed with removing and putting back on her shoes all the time. This means poor Sebastian is the victim of lots of shoves, hits in the head with a shoe, and being stepped on since Reese insists on being right next to him while she learns these new skills.

IMG_0655

I was so excited to get this picture because we have almost the identical one of Grant and Reese. HERE

IMG_0666

Once a week, I do play dates with one of my friends who has four girls. Sebastian is quiet the celebrity at their house.

IMG_0687

We literally have to hide his feet, or he will constantly be bending forward to try to touch and look at this feet.

IMG_0688

When your a second sibling, you might look like a girl while sleeping because all of the other blankets were dirty.

Sebastian spits up which is something we keep forgetting. Reese never spit up, but would get gas and colicky from dairy, peanuts, and beans. Sebastian gets very gassy from beans so I cannot eat any which is sad,but if I eat any dairy he spits up a lot and I think gets reflux. So if I don’t eat diary he spits up here and there, but that is more than Reese did. So nothing wrong with it, just different. I am able to eat peanuts with Sebastian; as far as I can tell they do not bother him.

IMG_0720

Sebastian likes being outside which is great because Reese does as well.

Just like Reese, Sebastian loves seeing himself in the mirror.

IMG_0761

Sebastian is getting more and more personality these days which is super fun.

IMG_0762

He is also copying our facial expressions.

IMG_0763

He is getting out of the bundle of goo stage as my brother in law Wilson calls it.

IMG_0775

Sebastian in his bumbo.

IMG_0788

Sebastian loves being in his exersaucer just like Reese, and he likes looking at himself in the mirror. He seems much more advanced physically than Reese, but has still doesn’t jump in this. Reese was doing that from day one; it is so fun to see their differences.

IMG_0809

More bedtime stories.

IMG_0830

Books are the best way we have been able to distract him from his annoyance at so much tummy time. Our physical therapist pretty much said when he is wake and not nursing he should be on his tummy.

IMG_0846

More books, both kiddos really like this author’s books because of the contrast of the drawings and colors I think.

IMG_0867

So proud of himself. I love him in these hoodies they make him look so grown up.

IMG_0880

No matter what we do, Reese is the most interesting person to Sebastian. I love that this is the case; seeing these two interact together is so much fun.

IMG_0889

Reese sleeps in the strangest positions.

IMG_0890

Sebastian barley moves. Here he is in her Magic Merlin Suit which Bryan and Amanda got him. It is a suit you put on that helps transition from a swaddle. I wanted one with Reese, but couldn’t justify the expense. This was Sebastian’s Christmas Gift so I was thrilled with it!

IMG_0899

Sebastian is gnawing on his hands and drooling, but we don’t think he is teething because Reese was doing this at the same age.

IMG_0947

Sebastian likes to have his hand on his face when falling asleep which Reese also did at this stage.

IMG_0950

We went on our first family hike with Sebastian. Here is Reese in our new to us toddler hiking backpack that we found used recently.

FullSizeRender (1) copy

All of us on the trail, it was a lot steeper than we realized, but a lot of fun.

On the one flat area of the Hike.

IMG_7248

Sebastian slept through 3/4 of the hike, but toward the end he woke up and loved being outside.

IMG_0965

We got a new sink, and it makes bathing him soo much nicer. We use THIS bath sponge that we like better than any baby bath tubs we have tried, and it is super cheap. Thanks Gail for telling us about them.

IMG_0969

He has been grabbing things very well and starting to pull them towards himself. He like to chew and gnaw on things especially crinkly things.

IMG_0972

Rolling onto his sides happens all the time, but he isn’t quiet rolling onto his stomach at will yet,but he is sooo close.

IMG_1209

Looking like a little mob boss in an outfit our neighbors gifted him.

IMG_7159

Yes, our tree was still up at the end of January, don’t worry I took it down right after this. Reese had to learn that theses toys that she used to play with are for Sebastian, and she is too big.

IMG_7164

She was somewhat in denial at some of the stages.

In general, Sebastian is not startled by loud noises. He isn’t as wary of strangers as Reese was. He does great at the chiropractors when we go as well as the physical therapist. I have also gone to the Y to work out, and he does great in childcare. The workers all know his name, and will switch areas just so they can hold him.

Sebastian likes reading books, being sung to, talked to, tickled, Reese, and ceiling fans. He is a huge squirmer, when he doesn’t want to be held or sitting the noodling as we call it starts. He mainly is fussy when he is tired, bored, or has a dirty diaper.

We call Sebastian a variety of nicknames, Sebastian, kleiner Mann(little man), and mein Liebling(my darling), Spatz (Sparrow.) Reese calls him Basty (Pronounced by her more like BasCHty.)

Thanks for reading this update on our little man.
