Here is the second portion of our Houston trip. To read more about part 1 of the trip, please click here.
Last year, our family decided that we would celebrate Thanksgiving instead of Christmas together due to the fact that my sister Kira was due with her son at the end of January which made travels in the end of December not possible. So, Grant, Reese, and I had our tickets booked for an early Thanksgiving around the middle of November. Unfortunately, my Grandmother who had alzheimers ended up having a stroke and died at the beginning of November. So we had to change our plans. Now, I had to fly by myself with Reese a week early so that I could attend the funeral, and then a week later Grant would join us for the time he had taken off of work for our family get together. The other bummer is with our first flight we just lost out on the money of my first leg of my flight, and it was no longer a one way flight which we had paid extra for. We also found out that if you don’t take the first leg of your round trip ticket, the airline will cancel your return flight without telling you. We got it worked out in the end,but they said since we didn’t call to say we would still be taking my return flight, they automatically cancel it. This was news to us… I figured if you pay for it, it is yours. Any hoo, here is a recap of the first portion of our visit.
In December 2015, we decided we wanted to go on a camping trip. We kept having issues with the weather being too warm, and so we picked a weekend in early December. The plan was for us to do a trial run from Friday to Saturday, and then the Fleshmans would meet us for the whole day Saturday and stay through Sunday for Alana’s first camping trip. We decided to go to a camp ground that was very close to our house around 30 minutes away with traffic for the case that things didn’t work out. We had never been camping with Reese so we didn’t want to be too far away. Well, the weekend we ended up picking ended up being the coldest that whole month! The weather went down into the 30s which with tent camping can be pretty chilly.
When Reese was 11 months old, we took her to a new to us playground here in town. Here are some of the cute pictures of that day; we decided to take her because she seemed old enough to get more use out of this playground than before when she was younger.
This year for Halloween, we decided to keep things a little bit more low key. We decided to buy Reese’s costume as well as not have Grant or I dress up since we figured having a newborn was a good enough excuse. Our church has Trunk or Treat, but we ended up skipping because it started past Reese’s bedtime, but we are hoping next year we can make it. Reese’s school had a Halloween program and trick or treating in the school as well so Sebastian and I joined the fun.
