Pregnancy Post – 35 Weeks

by jrwarfield

I am now 36 weeks, so here is my 35 week update.

Check out the week 34 update Here:

34 weeks
35 weeksHow far along:
 35
 weeks

How big is baby:  Five pounds and eight ounces and the size of a Honeydew melon.

Weight gain:  21 Pounds

Sleep: The actual time I sleep, I sleep amazingly well, but we have been staying up too late reading or getting things done around the house. I do notice that some nights I have to get up to use the restroom more than just once, and my stomach is much heavier when switching sides.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Nothing super exciting here, just can’t eat very much in a sitting since I’m running out of room. So I eat slower and smaller portions, but then just eat more frequently. Oh and Dunkin Donuts Decaf iced coffees are so yummy, and the fact that they have them every Monday for $.99 is dangerous since I normally never eat out since I work from home and see it as kind of crazy to waste money and gas when I have a full kitchen at my disposal.

Movement: She moves a ton, and I love it. It is nice and reassuring. She likes to always have a limb, I think a knee, pushed out on my right side so my tummy looks super funny sometimes.

What I’m loving: Finishing up projects. I’m getting a ton of tutorials made for my work for during my maternity leave. I have a few last minute items that I have been wanting to complete and am finally getting to those. I’m fine if they don’t all get done, but the more of them I can get done the happier I will be.

Symptoms: At the end of the day, I can tell I sometimes start the pregnant waddle because my stomach feels heavier. At this last appointment, my doctor asked if I wanted my cervix checked. This time I said sure, but in the future, I probably won’t until I’m in labor since I don’t want a higher risk of infection. She said that I was a finger tip dilated and my cervix was a lot softer than she expected. I know that this has zero correlation to how soon or late I will actually have this baby, but I thought it was still interesting. My Doctor also said my stomach didn’t look 35 weeks, but when measured I was perfectly on target. I think this has to do because I have a long torso. Most normal shirts tend to be very short on me which is why I love the long shirt trend. 🙂

What I’m looking forward to: Being done with the last few books that I want to finish before she arrives, being done with all of the classes we are taking so we can just take it easy plan wise before she arrives, and of course getting to meet her and see what she looks like! I have 6 women in our young marrieds group who have given birth to their first or second babies since January, so it has been fun getting to hold their new ones.

Thoughts: We had our third(of four) birthing classes this week which included the hospital tour. It really made it all feel more real that is for sure. In one of the areas for low risk pregnancies where you can labor, birth, and recover all in the same room without needing to be moved, we were being shown a graph that showed a neighboring mother pushing. We then heard cheers and the baby cry. We all thought that was pretty cool because what are the odds that we would be there right at that time.
